There are over 50 rest homes in the Waikato region, from Waipa out to the Coromandel. Many of these are located in the main centres of Hamilton, Cambridge and Taupo, but you’ll also find rest homes throughout the more rural areas of the Waikato region.
Waikato offers a range of residential care options, and a needs assessment will determine the level of care required. Many of the larger rest home operators have a presence in Waikato, including Bupa, Summerset, Ryman Healthcare and Oceania.
You may be eligible for a residential care subsidy, which is offered by the government to help cover rest home costs. Your eligibility and how much you can receive depends on your income and assets, amongst other factors.
