Rest Homes Marlborough

Marlborough has several care home providers. Most rest homes are situated in the region’s main centre of Blenheim, but there are providers in Picton and Springlands, as well.

Marlborough has a range of different residential care providers. Most are locally owned rest homes, though a few of the larger rest home providers, like Oceania and Arvida, also have a presence in the region.

Residential Care Subsidy

In New Zealand, the government offers a residential care subsidy to help cover rest home costs for eligible people. The amount you can receive depends on your income and assets.

Eligibility for the subsidy depends on several factors, including age, financial status and whether the care home has a contract with the DHB. A needs assessment must also have been carried out to confirm the requirement for permanent residential care.

Needs assessment

A needs assessment helps to determine a person’s requirements for support services and whether they meet the criteria for long-term residential care. Needs assessments are performed by a DHB-approved assessor, and can provide clarity on what kinds of care and support services are available to you.
